I’ve been gone for awhile, haven’t I? I got really sick, is the thing; I had mono and tonsillitis! Yuck, I know. During that time I went through a hard time both physically and emotionally. I became severely depressed. I felt like no matter what I did, I just couldn’t get out of bed or leave the house. Maybe the sun was too bright to match my mood, or I felt lost when I stepped outside, like I had nowhere to be, no one to meet. I’ve also had issues with my dating life, which actually doesn’t exist right now. Or ever, that is. For a long time this has made me sad and left out. After all, all my best friends have been in serious relationships, but I haven’t. Seeing this made me just…upset. But it’s 2015 and I’m facing the new year with some new perspectives.
I know as 20-somethings, or just humans in general, we face some dark places within ourselves we never wanted to face. Sometimes, though, it’s necessary to realize we don’t want to look at that for the rest of our lives. I know I sure don’t.
I think 2015 is going to be the best yet, and in some ways it has to be because nothing else exists! 2014 and before is all a memory, and whatever lies ahead has yet to happen. I’m going to try my best to make each day count because if I want to find satisfaction, I have to do it in the moment that exists now! I hope, if you’re reading this, you’re okay and healthy and you’re on a path to loving yourself and your life. I’m going to attach a song that has helped me to cry out the sadness! 🙂

Hey there! It’s Fall, finally! Though here in California it still feels like summer 😦 . Oh well, I can pretend it’s sweater weather! This set is a mixture of trends I’ve spotted around the webs, campus, and from the pages of Vogue, Elle and Bazaar. And a little from me! I’ve heard beanies are BIG this season which is why I’ve picked up my own cream-colored, knit beanie from Urban Outfitters. Dark polish and trench coats are also making a bold statement, and I can’t wait to join in on the trend. What trends have you seen? Any you like more than others?
Hey guys! So recently I picked up this Mario Badescu Facial Spray at Urban Outfitters. It was an impulse buy because my skin is super dry and I was looking for something to soothe it. Well, I’m SO GLAD I bought this! Not only is it a natural product (it’s made of rose-water and herbal extracts) but it has tons of uses. The first way I use it is as an after-shower spray. It really soothes that tight, pulled feeling that skin gets after getting out of a hot shower. Since I usually shower before bed, I let the spray dry and then put my nighttime moisturizer over it. When I wake up, my skin looks and feels amazing!
Another great way to use this is to spray before and after applying makeup–especially if you like a dewy, glowy finish to your skin. Seriously, it works wonders! And best of all, it doesn’t make your skin “oily” feeling or looking. It dries pretty instantly and makes you look well-rested and youthful.
I would honestly give this product a 10/10. And for only $7.00, I would buy it again and again! I picked it up at my local Urban Outfitters, but it’s also widely available online and I (think), at Ulta. Give it a try. I promise you won’t regret it!
**Warning: If you don’t like a light fragrance, this MIGHT not be for you!
Hey! So I just wanted to make it official: I’m writing a novel. It’s in the VERY early stages, but it’s coming along. It’s complete fiction, but I’m basing some of the qualities of the main character, Cara, off myself. And I’ve got another character in the works, too! His name is going to be Danny I think. Yes, it’s a little bit of a love story, but there’s so much more to it. I can’t wait to get this moving along. Side note: I think someone I knew just walked into this coffee shop, but he has an identical twin (who I’ve never met) so I can’t actually tell if it’s him or not… AWKWARD! Anyway. I hope to update soon.
I think the title speaks for itself here. Let’s just say…”I wanna be a billionaire so f***in’ bad”! I have always wanted a Burberry trench coat because not only are they really well-made, but they’re fashionable in a SIMPLE way, which is what I like in a coat. This particular coat, called the Ashington Trench, is only…er…$1,648 dollars. That’s all! Ha, that’s why this is the LUXURY wish list. Two key words: Luxury and wish. I also really like Versace bags because I allow myself to get a little crazy with bags. My clothing is becoming more understated, so I want my bag to be a little louder. And as for the Yves Saint Laurent boots? Well, they’re badass, but not overly so. And like my bags, I like shoes to draw a little more attention! What would you wish for if you had a money tree in your backyard?
Bonjour! It’s been awhile since I’ve updated. A lot has happened between my last post and now: I moved into a new house, my best friend from Washington visited me and we went to Vegas, I went to San Diego to see my sister, then went to Pasadena for a concert, and now my last year of college has started. Whew! I thought I’d start the school year off with an overview of my daily makeup routine. I’ve been using most of these products for awhile now with the exception of the Armani perfume (which smells amazing) and the Mario Badescu facial spray (which I got from Urban Outfitters today to soothe my super-dry skin!). I’ll review the facial spray as soon as I use it. But these are my favorite products and I can tell you they’re all amazing! Yes, some are “luxury” items, but I find that when it comes to makeup, it’s worth it for me to spend a little more to get great quality. I don’t always use EVERY one of these products at once, but for the most part, this is what makes up my daily routine! I go for a “French” look which is pretty natural, so these are my ultimate favorite products:
The YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation: So lightweight and natural (light coverage) it looks like YOUR SKIN. Yesss. I don’t like the “cakey” look; I keep it dewy and fresh. Plus the scent is very pretty and refreshing!
Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentre: I use this as a moisturizer/primer. It is a miracle cream, truly. It’s thick so don’t use too much, but it makes your makeup look beautiful.
Cream Blush: I don’t actually use the Stila cream blush yet–I am probably going to buy it eventually. Right now I use an ELF cream blush stick that does the job! To me, cream blush is the best way to maintain a dewy look and a little goes a really long way. Don’t overdo it though!
Maybelline The Falsies Mascara: Just some mascara on the top lashes (and maybe a bit of eyeliner) give a doe-eyed, French-look that I really love. I’m reading a book called “How to be Parisian Wherever You Are” by Anne Berest and her three girlfriends and they absolutely emphasize the Parisienne’s love for mascara!
Hope this helped.
Crop tops are everywhere. I mean everywhere. Kylie Jenner, Taylor Swift, Jordin Sparks, Shay Mitchell and Nina Dobrev all sported summery (albeit completely different) versions of the cutoff shirt at the Teen Choice Awards last night. And the gorgeous Megan Fox looked badass in a black crop top and matching skirt at Comic Con 2014, showcasing a more dangerous take on the playful two-piece look.
Now that it’s August, and hotter than ever here in Southern California, I’m getting the urge to join the ever-growing trend of showing midriff, and I found an indigo top at Forever21 that I can’t stop wearing.
Indigo, to me, is the color of late summer. It’s the color of the hottest heat and the bluest sky, and it’s rich like the smell of wilting flowers in the late-afternoon sun. So I’ve deemed this August, “Indigo August”, and I’ve paired my indigo with the heat-friendly crop top to enjoy the rest of my summer comfortably! Next I’ll post some of my favorite cropped looks, and other trends I’m warming up to. Talk to you soon!
